Glen Philbrick, Australia
Glen Philbrick is a New Zealand-based watercolour artist and manager with the New Zealand International Watercolour Society (IWS). He began painting in 2021, inspired by a colleague to honour his late father, an artist and picture framer. What started as a tribute quickly became a source of healing and creative passion.
Glen studied under acclaimed artist Dolores Phelps through her Wild Watercolour course and continues to be inspired by her teachings and community.
His work explores serene rural landscapes, minimal semi-abstract scenes, and intuitive, dreamlike abstractions—each reflecting a sense of calm, spaciousness, and inner stillness.
Influenced by spirituality, Zen Buddhism, photography, and martial arts, Glen often roams the New Zealand landscape with sketchbook and camera, capturing not just the view, but its emotional essence.
Outside of art, Glen is a Registered Nurse in Quality and Patient Safety. He values time with family and strives for balance between his creative and professional life.
Through his paintings, Glen invites viewers into a world of quiet reflection and mindful serenity.
