Carol Moorhead, USA

I’m Carol Moorhead, a watercolor artist based in the northwestern corner of Illinois, USA. I picked up my brushes and began painting again in 2022 while waiting for my house to sell in Florida. My love for nature is the driving force in my muted, misty, and moody watercolor landscape paintings. I occasionally paint floral or animals to learn new techniques, gain new perspectives and new genres within the watercolor category. My go-to colors range from monochrome blue/black in misty forests and oceans and muted green and blue atmospheric landscapes. Balancing realism with impressionistic styles is where I’m most comfortable painting. My painting influences are generally with the classic masters of Oscar Claude Monet, Winslow Homer, and J. M. W. Turner. I find the watercolor community to be the most loving and generous people I have ever met in my life! As I continue to hone my skills and progress in my learning, I will continue to "pay it forward" and help others find their way in this beautiful medium that has given me so much joy and peace.
