Elizabeth Crisfield, USA

Dr. Elizabeth Crisfield is a watercolor artist based in Pennsylvania, US. Elizabeth's passion for watercolor is rooted in her work for the conservation of wildlife and natural resources. Watercolor represents our experience in the natural world – the atmospheric nature of a foggy day or the transparency and reflected light that makes the outdoors so much more vibrant than the screen. Creating watercolor is not unlike forest bathing – it is slow, calm, quiet, focused, and beautiful.
Not only as an art, Elizabeth approaches watercolor as a scientist, exploring interests in pigments, techniques, and subjects. Elizabeth holds degrees in biogeography (PhD), soil physics (M.S.) and physics (B.S.) and brings this breadth of experience to her work for imperiled species across a full range of habitats. Through her consulting practice, the Strategic Stewardship Initiative, Elizabeth assists organizations in becoming more strategic and effective in the conservation of biodiversity and stewardship of ecosystems.
